Mothers have one of the most difficult jobs in the world. They are responsible for birthing and raising children. They are supposed to provide for them and serve as a role model for the rest of their children’s lives. This is in addition to their other responsibilities as a wife, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, EXECUTIVE, volunteer and all of the other hats that they are expected to wear every day.
Being a mom can be stressful. Dealing with children can be frustrating at any age. There are tantrums, accidents, rebellious phases and other things to deal with.
Anxiety, depression and burnout are common for most parents at times. Raising children can take its toll and you can see it here. Moms are always juggling priorities and trying to keep everything together. They put on a brave face even when it seems like things are falling apart.
Self care for mothers is not only important, it’s an absolute necessity. We all need to take a break from the chaos of everyday life and take time just for us. Many working moms schedule time off to take a much deserved vacation. Even if it’s just a weekend trip to the cabin up north with girlfriends or enjoying a movie night with the spouse or other loved ones, making time for themselves can work wonders.
It helps to relieve stress and put things in perspective. Most moms are very focused and driven. It’s good to have purpose, but not to the extreme that you forget to take care of yourself.
Taking time for yourself is something that can be scheduled on your calendar. Mark a few days off, and make plans to do something fun with family or friends or just by yourself if you want. Have your spouse, significant other, parents or other relatives or friends take the kids for a few days.
Schedule some fun activities and allow some downtime to just do nothing. You’ll return from your time away feeling relaxed and refreshed. You’ll feel less stressed and more confident about yourself. Your health is just as important as anyone else’s, so making time for relaxation and fun can help you lead a happier, healthier and more rewarding life.
